A social face

”SOS-Børnebyerne (’SOS Children’s Villages’) survives on fundraising, bequests and gifts. One of the reasons I became involved in SOS-Børnebyerne is because I work with inheritance law,” says Associate Partner Mette Porskær Winther. Kromann Reumert has signed a cooperation agreement with SOS-Børnebyerne whereby we have undertaken to be their lawyers. The retainer includes the usual client terms, except that Kromann Reumert receives no payment. The philosophy behind the support is that it frees up resources that can then be used to benefit SOS-Børnebyerne’s projects.

To help the organisation’s staff streamline their cases, Mette has created templates for such things as wills and other legal documents that are most frequently required. It is therefore logical that Mette also invests time and resources in training new administrative staff in the processes at SOS-Børnebyerne.

“It is really satisfying to help an entity organise their legal affairs so that these types of activities use as little of SOSBørnebyerne’s own resources as possible”, emphasises Mette, and continues:

“The actual case handling is not that different from my other cases involving inheritance issues, but it does make a difference that it is for a non-profit organisation and forms a part of our contribution towards social
responsibility.”
