ENERGY, CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT

Over the last few years, public focus on the environment, climate and energy has intensified and such issues now rank highly on many governments’ political agendas. In 2009, Denmark will host the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP15), which aims to reach a new global climate agreement, and environmental responsibility and the use of environmentally friendly technologies form part of the United Nations Global Compact principles in relation to social responsibility.

The immediate focus is on securing and optimising existing energy supplies, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and minimising the environmental impact of energy sources. Priority is being given to the creation of green energy and technology to reduce energy consumption, both key ingredients in lowering CO2 emissions.
