The company law reform

In October 2006, the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs set up a committee which was to draw up a report with recommendations for a modernisation of Danish company law.

The reason for the appointment of the committee - which was referred to as "The Committee for Modernisation of Company Law" - was that the Danish government wanted a "service check" of the corporate legislation which could contribute to making Denmark one of the most competitive societies in the world.

On 26 November 2008, the Committee published its report, suggesting a far-reaching reform of Danish company law.

Our expertise

Kromann Reumert's commercial law group monitors the development closely, including the results of the consultation exercise and the parliamentary consideration after the introduction of the bill, which is expected in the beginning of 2009.

We are, of course, available for a discussion of the contents of the report and the possible consequences of the Committee's draft bill to the client's business.
