More and more businesses operate internationally in an increasingly global marketplace. Massive resources are spent locating local lawyers and getting them up to speed on the client’s business and the particular problems facing it.

Kromann Reumert’s Outbound Services assist Danish businesses in their activities abroad and the legal challenges that go with them. Being close to the strategy and the needs of the client, we provide substantial added value and in addition keep track of the details and help the client’s internal team deliver over and above what is expected. Also, we will make certain that all foreign lawyers whose services are retained live up to the Kromann Reumert standard of quality.

We understand the business of the client better than foreign law firms and have a solid understanding of the legal and commercial environment of the particular foreign market. That puts us in a position to offer our clients substantial added value and keep risks at an absolute minimum. This will also help keep foreign legal costs at the relevant minimum, thus providing a cost saving which more than compensates for having Danish lawyers involved.

Taking our clients safely through international transactions

Working on international transactions e.g. the buying or selling of a company, we will help the client in almost the same way as if it had been a purely domestic transaction.

This means that we will

• coordinate due diligence investigations
• prepare contracts
• assist in negotiations
• assess and hedge risks
• assist in raising capital etc.
• make sure that the right documentation gets to the right authorities and local lawyers
• advise on establishment of the relevant vehicles, tax matters, marketing law and protection of IPRs, acquisitions and divestments, joint ventures, trade partnership projects, CSR and anti-corruption, and on multi-jurisdictional litigation.

The client’s representative abroad

International cases play out in a highly transnational environment. We can advise on where to best handle each matter, based on our in-depth knowledge of the client’s business and its particular needs and our broad experience from similar international projects.

We can draw on an extensive international network. For instance, as the only Danish law firm Kromann Reumert is a member of the worldwide Lex Mundi association comprising more than 20,000 lawyers from 160 of the world's leading independent law firms. We will handpick the best local lawyers and explain to them all relevant aspects of your case. We are under no referral obligations and always pick the right team for the task at hand.

We can also coordinate the exchange of information between the client and the foreign counsel, acting as the client’s representative abroad and making sure that the client gets the best and most cost-efficient solution.

Many of our clients have highly experienced internal legal teams. We work closely with such teams and only assist to the extent such legal teams believe that we can add value or resources over and above what such internal legal team can provide.
