United Nations Global Compact

Kromann Reumert a new participant

In September 2008 Kromann Reumert became a member of the UN Global Compact, which is an international initiative wishing to advance corporate CSR.

A considered decision

Kromann Reumert did not join Global Compact until after discussions with i.a. Helle Johansen, responsible for UNDP's Nordic Business Outreach, and Mads Øvlisen, member of the Global Compact board.

-"Our discussions with Helle Johansen and Mads Øvlisen convinced us that a Global Compact membership is of relevance to us" says Sille Stener, director of corporate strategy and branding, Kromann Reumert. "We are in the start-up phase of our CSR work, including Global Compact, and right now we are working at translating words and objectives into action".

Membership obligations

A member is responsible for supporting Global Compact and its 10 principles which have as their starting point the UN human rights, labour standards and anti-corruption work. Also, the members undertake to enter into partnerships that make a positive difference.

Political support

In Denmark there is political support for Global Compact. In May 2008 when the Minister for Economic and Business affairs introduced an action plan for the corporate sector's social responsibility, Danish enterprises were also encouraged to join Global Compact.
