In matters regarding ship financing, certain distinct asset-related questions and problems arise on a regular basis. Also, purchase and sale of vessels − both new buildings of ships and second-hand tonnage − and taking delivery of and registration of vessels are complex transactions that will often present both legal and practical challenges.
The members of Kromann Reumert's ship finance and shipping group have extensive experience with these issues, which we would like to share during a series of morning meetings.
The series will include three meetings focusing on ship financing topics and three meetings focusing on purchase and sale of vessels (new buildings of ships and second-hand tonnage) and on taking delivery of and registration of vessels.
Buying and selling vessels I: Ship-building contracts
The meeting will be an introduction to the characteristics of shipbuilding contracts, including:
• Standard contracts used in the market
• Important clauses in the contract (description of the vessel, contract prize, modifications, trials)
• Risk allocation and insurance
• Permissible delay and force majeure
• Taking delivery - closing of the transaction
• Warranty and warranty guarantee
After completion of at least 3 meetings, you can request a course certificate by contacting Mette Ladewig. Please inform her which meetings you have attended.
The target group for the meetings are professionals in the shipping industry in the broader sense, i.e. banks, ship-owing companies, management companies and insurance companies, who work with ship financing, sale and purchase of vessels (including new buildings of vessels) and chartering of vessels.
